Hi all,

I currently work at a semi-private country club, rather small, memember total for the golf section of around 600. Currently, I my position is to take care of all outside opperations including, Starter, driving range, bag room, the meet-and-greet committee, and the overall manger of hospitality when guests arive to our club.

We are always looking to enhance the experience that people have at our course which is a Willie Park Jr. first 100 courses in the US. My question to all of you, when you arrive at a country club, what makes the experience rememberable?

Is it the service of someone always being ready to aid, or answer a question? Is it the overall atmosphere of a lively staff? From stepping out of your car and walking to the first tee, what have some other clubs that you have visited done that may have left an impression on you? Even little things like handing you a club logod diviot tool...?

Thanks in advance.

For me, one of the best things you can do to make me feel comfortable is good signage. Assume that it's my first time there and I know nothing about your facilities. I want to see good clear signs to point me to the clubhouse as well as from tee to tee.

A lot of courses tend to hide the 10th tee and make it hard to find. Big, clear signs all around... :)

I really enjoy visiting clubs that make me feel comfortable. Also, I like friendly and respectful service.

I know this is going to sound really simple, but my club provides free water and juices. Apparently with the heat, they had a lot of people suffering from dehydration. So by providing simple drinks, they keep the golfers hydrated and then as a side effect, the golfers are more willing to spend more time and (cough, cough) money. I spend a little more money, but personally the willingness to provide for their clientele means more to me than the cheaper fees at another course.

I prefer public courses over private ones. First for the cost. Second for the people. I like average Joe's much more than snobby Sams.
