View Full Version : Disappointing
I was just in P'cola. I have been there many times (Military Pilot). After traveling over the years, I was very surprised at how relatively poor the quality of courses there are in P'cola. I checked several courses and they're just not very nice at all.

Did you play any of them while you were there?

That surprising, I've got several friends that lived in Florida for a while and said EVERY course was in great condition. I've also got another set of friends that have a condo in Perdido and have played courses in Pensacola and raved about them.
I did get a chance to play while I was there. I played the Moors, it was average at best. The one shining star to it was the price $40-50. I guess you can't complain when the round it that reasonable. I have been out to Perdido Key and played previously, not this trip though. It was a fair course. I don't know, maybe I am being a bit to picky.

HEP,
Your not going to find high end golf here in P'cola especially since Ivan. Some courses still have yet to recover from the storms. It sounds as if you'd be more happy with the Raven or Kelly's Plantation in Destin.

Thanks for the answers. It sounds like next time I come to town I will head to the Destin area. I have been told good things about the area. Thanks again. Hep

Try Windswept Dunes in Freeport, good value for a very nice course. I played the Moors -- you are right, the price is amazing for the area. Destin courses are in very good shape -- I haven't found one of the major courses that hasn't recovered well. They are more expensive, though. Also, the Gulf Shores courses are coming back -- Kiva Dunes is very playable and Peninsula recovered very quickly. Glen Lakes is in great shape -- a good links style course, close to P'cola near Foley.
Lots of good courses in the area. The ones I have found that are still in a little trouble are the public courses, but they are gradually making their way back............
