When I first started playing golf I didn't always follow the rules. For example, I would give putt as far out as 3 feet. I did these things because I sucked but I'm getting better. Now I take the game more serious and I follow the rules. Do you follow the rules of golf?

In the beginning, my friend and I have lift the ball for a good lie and hitting second shots for missed putts . But I realized I was only cheating myself by not following the rules.

It always sounds like a great idea, but then you can get yourself confused about what are your rules and the real rules. Personally, putt-putt is created just for that!! and those silly plastic balls......

Yes, I realized that I was hindering myself from developing skills. I'm playing by the rules now and getting better at the game.

The better you get the more the rules will seem to be less of a hinderance. And those who learn as children never really have to deal with it as much. There is no option to do otherwise if you are properly taught. If all else, play with someone you know will keep you honest. And if you play by other rules, how are you truly able to calculate where your skill level really is?
