I have a friend that game me some golf balls that he retrieve for a river. The balls have stuff all over them and I can't get it off with a brush. Do anyone have any suggestions?

Update: I decided to soak the balls and the scum started coming off of the ball. Believe it or not, I was thinking about putting them in the dishwasher. LOL!

Actually a dishwasher isn't that far off of an idea. i have been known to be that...coughing....lazy. LOL! If you are going to go that route, I suggest that you get one of those wire mesh baskets that you set in your disher for bottle tops, small objects, etc. That way they dont go all over the place and do any possible damage to the dishwasher that is definitely worth more than those free balls.

LOL, that's a good idea. My friend did use the dishwasher to clean his golf balls. But, I don't think he used a mesh basket.

Well, it just kinda keeps the noise level down. Especially if you have a new-fangled (technical term here) with those super powerful jets that can take paint off. If the balls get moving around on the inside, they can make some noise and do some damage! My mom ended up getting a new dishwasher and new dishes. My step-dad did the dishes and his golf balls (kill two birds...). One of the balls got situated right to where a jet would hit it and you would have thought it was a ping pong ball!

Believe me, that cheap little basket will be worth it!

why don't you soak it first in water with liquid soap for a few hours and brush it.

If you do wash them in the dishwasher, don't let it run through the dry cycle as that will damage the balls.
