When to stop using Balls

im fairly new at this game and i love it. Ive been usin the nike SFT(soft and long) 20.00 for 2 dozen and yes i know there kinda cheap. Anyways i was wondering when i should buy a new pack. is there a certain number of hits. i would jut like some advice.

I usually keep the ball until I hit it into the woods/water or it gets lots of scratches on it. the scratches will affect the way the ball flies, so a badly scratched ball will fly differently than a brand new one.

Not sure if there is a specific number of hits after which you should change out balls.
